About Our Meetings
Meetings are open to the Thurgood Marshall community, everyone is welcome and we encourage you to attend! Meetings take place 4-5 times each year in the school Library, and often include special guests, such as a parenting expert, School Board member or TM staff member. For example, recent years’ meetings featured the movie “Screenagers” (about kids’ screen use); a talk by Amy Lang on the “Birds & Bees”; educational technology ideas from consultant Jim Dunnegin; and a discussion of racial equity with skilled expert and professional facilitator Kyana Wheeler.
Also, the Principal and Friends of Thurgood Marshall Elementary board members give updates on curriculum, staffing, budget, teacher grant requests and other relevant topics. Meetings are open to all parents/guardians of current students, as well as involved community members. Suggestions and guest speakers are welcomed and encouraged!
